I’ve had Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum on my list for years before moving to Michigan. The boys and I couldn’t wait to check it out. So we raided our change bucket and headed to Farmington Hills. (You don’t need to raid your change bucket, they have a change machine on the premises, but if you have change you’d might as well use it.)
With our pockets full of quarters we entered a museum unlike any other.
Yes, we’ve been to arcades before, and yes we recognized many of the same machines we’ve seen before.
However there were also so many things we’d never before seen.
Marvin’s boasts a collection of antique machines, macabre oddities, and so much more. Everywhere you look you find some artifact.
There’s something for everyone, regardless of age. As well as a cafe and free wifi for parents who want a moment to themselves.
Of course the fire extinguisher is next to the Passion Tester. Where else would it be?
We really enjoyed ourselves. Yes, it is an assault on the senses. Yes when it was over I was ready for a quiet nap. That’s part of the fun – it is so different from everything else.
Keep it weird, friends. Life is a funhouse and you are the ringleader.
Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum has free admission and open 365 days a year.
