When I mention ‘back to school‘ shopping my kids happily remind me that they still have a week until school starts again.
Sadly, I know that our last week of summer will go by quickly and that I need to be prepared for back to school.
Speaking of back to school, my kids have already made clear on what to include and what not to include in their lunch bags.
I know as a parent that what I include in my kids’ lunch bags has an overwhelming effect on their health. So choosing healthy items to include is very important to me.
Healthy foods that kids will eat?
However, finding healthy foods that my kids will eat can sometimes be pretty challenging. I don’t want them throwing out the food I provide for them.
Thankfully, I know when preparing back to school lunches and snacks I can always rely on Earth Fare. Earth Fare carries healthy and affordable food choices that both my children love.
Fresh fruit is always something I pack in my kids’ lunches. Earth Fare always has a beautiful selection of in-season fruit. From bananas to peaches, dragon fruit, and apples. I love surprising my kids with new and exciting tastes and textures.
Bored of Sandwiches?
My kids get bored of sandwiches pretty early on in the school year and that has been quite a challenge to work around. When I swapped a LARABAR in for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich both kids were elated.
The LARABAR my kids ask for the most is Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. With only four ingredients: dates, chocolate chips, peanuts and sea salt these bars are A-OK in my book.
What about healthy beverages?
Most days my kids bring water with them to school but a few times a week I include Honest Kids Juice in their bags. The juices are only sweetened with organic fruit juice and are gluten-free and contain no GMOs. They are my choice for a healthy beverage away from home.
Starting the day off right is so important. My kids love pancakes but the early morning school rush doesn’t allow much time to prepare them. I am so glad that I found Bantam Pancakes for this school year.
I picked up two boxes of Bantam Pancakes in Chocolate Chip. The Chocolate Chip Pancakes stuffed with Maple Butter Cream may not be super healthy, but my kids love them as a special treat.
Annie’s Organic Fruit snacks are usually always included as a snack in their bags. These delicious gummies are certified organic and include 100% daily value of vitamin C. The gummies contain No-GMOs, gelatin, artificial flavors, preservatives or synthetic colors. With lots of flavors to choose from my kids never get sick of these yummy gummies.
Make room for treats!
On Fridays, I love to slip a cookie (or two) in my kids’ bags. Annie’s Organic Chocolate Mint Grabbits are addicting and oh, so good! They are certified organic and contain NO GMOs, artificial flavors, synthetic preservatives, synthetic colors or high-fructose corn syrup.
As you can tell there are so many great products that we LOVE from Earth Fare. This is obviously just a small sampling of the healthy and delicious products we enjoy.
I hope that you are able to use some of our great recommendations to shape your kids’ lunches this year.
Here’s to a wonderful 2018-2019 school year!
