I moved around a lot when I was a kid. I went to 4 different elementary schools and it was hard to adjust as a little person. The one thing that was always constant in my life was Kauai. We spent every summer of my life there when I was growing up. I did get to spend all of Junior High at one school but then we moved to Kauai full time when I was in high school. I never know what to say when people ask me where I’m from, but Kauai is the one place I go that feels like home when I arrive. From the moment I step off that airplane my heart feels full. I love being able to share this beautiful island with my own family now.
I’ve been to about a million Luaus and I never get sick of them. I love the drums and the music and the dancing and the food. There’s something about being immersed into the Hawaiian Culture that brings so much joy to my heart and soul. Luau Kalamku Kauai is by far one of my very favorites.

Luau Kalamaku in Kauai is located at Gaylord’s which is a gorgeous garden spot for the luau. I couldn’t believe the set up they have for this Luau. The stage is in the middle of all the tables which was perfect because it didn’t matter where you were seated, the view was still awesome. Before the dinner and show, there were vendors set up for shopping and the bar was open for cocktails.
The food was incredible! All the favorites were there including some I didn’t expect which was great. The dessert table did not disappoint and I loved being able to introduce my littles to my very favorite: Haupia! It’s kind of like a firm coconut pudding that is something I look forward to at every luau.
The show was out of this world. It was so well thought out and the actors/dancers told a whole story. It reminded me of the show at the Polynesian Cultural Center! The costumes were incredible and everything was so entertaining.
There was so much going on the whole time and it even kept my kiddos’ attention until the very end. We absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend this luau to everyone visiting Kauai! It’s definitely a must see and experience for your vacation.
