Disney Pixar’s COCO is a feast for the senses. The bright colors, lush music, and adorable story leave you with a smile on your face long after the movie has finished.
I received a DVD to gift to my readers.
This has in no way affected my opinion.
COCO is a coming-of-age story of remembrance. Despite his family’s ban on music Miguel longs to become an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. In his desperation to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself transported to the colorful Land of the Dead. In this new land, Miguel meets new friends (really cute skeletons) and reunites with family. Miguel soon discovers the value of holding onto memories both good and bad.
Both my children (11 and 7) loved this movie. The beautiful animation and engaging storyline have made this Pixar film a favorite in our home. In their opinion, Disney Pixar can do no wrong and I have to agree with them. In fact, Disney Pixar just keeps getting better and better.
As a parent, I appreciated how well researched the film was in making sure that the everything was culturally authentic. There were no stereotypes or out of place jokes.
I highly recommend Disney Pixar’s Coco and you don’t just have to take my word for it. COCO won the Golden Globe for best-animated picture. It also has two Academy Award nominations for best-animated picture and best original song.
