My most favorite place on this planet is Kauai, Hawaii. I’ve spent the better part of my life there; lounging on the beaches, snorkeling in the ocean, and soaking up the sun. My hubby and I met on one of those beautiful beaches 12 years ago, and we couldn’t think of a better place to spend our anniversary this year! Only we didn’t want to lounge on any beaches…
We wanted to explore the island more this time, and what better way than off road in an ATV. Kipu Ranch Adventures set us up with the most fabulous day. We started at their base camp, had a riding lesson, loaded up with sunscreen and bug spray, and picked our ATVs.
My Hubby grew up in the ruggedness that is Eastern Idaho and is a very experienced ATV driver. This can mean for me that I have to hold on for dear life when I’m the passenger because he’s so “experienced”. I was really excited to see that the ATVs are not your typical putt-around four wheelers, these ATVs mean business. They are equipped with personal seating, roll bars, and seat belts. I felt super safe and get this… comfortable! It was totally awesome.
As we set off on our adventure, I was honestly in awe at the breathtaking views. There truly is no place on this planet like Kauai (I know I said that already but it needs to be said again). It makes my heart so happy and I loved being able to learn more about the island that is so dear to my heart. Every few miles or so, we would stop and get out of the ATVs, and the tour guides would tell us stories about where we were.
It was informative but oh so entertaining! One of our tour guides had been working on Kipu Ranch for 17 years so he was not only super funny and accommodating, he totally knows his stuff.
You know the part on the original Jurassic Park movie where the main guy and the kids are running though that valley and all the Dinosaurs are running along side them? We totally stopped there.
You know the part in Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom when he runs down the cliff, swings on a rope, and jumps into a river? Yeah, we totally swung on that rope swing and jumped in that river. There were so many movie spots it’s shocking! The scenery is just so picturesque; I can see how movie makers would want to make their movies there… no need for artificial scenery!
We chose the Waterfall Picnic tour and I assumed this meant we would trek to one waterfall. Nope! There are so many waterfalls on the property. We stopped at a waterfall for lunch, and then another to end the day. We all were able to get in and swim up to the waterfall and take pictures as a group. It was the best day.
The Hubs and I let our kiddos pick our 2018 family trip and we gave them two choices: Disneyland, or Kauai?? They chose KAUAI people, over Disneyland. I’m not kidding when I say this island will change your life. The ATVs can fit up to six so you better believe we’ll be back and will bring our kiddos along for the ride so they can enjoy it too. I recommend Kipu Ranch Adventures to anyone and everyone planning a trip to Kauai! It is worth every penny and was one of my very favorite excursions of our whole trip 🙂
We received this excursion complimentary for the purpose of this review.
