Upon returning from beautiful Kauai, Hawaii a few weeks ago I became depressed. Leaving Hawaii is always depressing but returning to the grey, cold and dreary east coast in January was a killer. I longed for the tastes and smells of the island that I so love.
My sister in law who owns property on Kauai and has lived there for many years introduced me to Anahola Granola. I noticed the bag sitting in her cabinet and she urged me to try it, “I love to eat it with yogurt,” she said. So try it I did and I immediately was hooked. I only was able to try the Tropical granola while on Kauai but knew I had to find out more about this amazing granola. I was interested in finding out how this company began and the other products they made.
About Anahola Granola
Becky Burns the owner and founder of Anahola Granola began making granola in the mid 1970’s when she lived as a caretaker on a remote island in the San Juan Islands. On her old ship’s stove in her log cabin, she cooked her first batch of granola. In 1981, Becky moved to Kauai and knew she had discovered her home. In 1986 Becky was a single mother with a 2 year old daughter to support. Becky started selling her original granola at fairs, farmer’s markets and specialty stores.
Today, most of the upscale hotels throughout Hawaii serve Anahola Granola in their restaurants. And, you can find the granola at many specialty shops, health food stores, bed and breakfasts, cafes, and grocery stores. You can also buy the Granola at Costco stores on Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island. Anahola Granola captures the exotic flavorings of tropical paradise to bring the fresh Hawaiian taste to you.
Whats the difference between Anahola and other granolas?
All of Anahola Granola’s products are made with the highest quality ingredients, with no preservatives. A healthy portion of nuts and seeds is used, the best unsulphered tropical fruits, canola oil and Hawaiian honey. The special flavoring is pure vanilla made from Madagascar beans, which they grind and infuse to their exact specifications.
The granola is baked and packed by hand and shipped throughout Hawaii and the Mainland the next day.
Today Anahola Granola offers granola in three flavors; Original, Tropical and Mango Ginger. Trail mix and granola bars are also available for quick snacks wherever you are in Hawaii or the mainland.
Since returning from Kauai I have now been able to try all of Anahola Granola’s offerings and I have to tell you that I am addicted. I received a four pack of Tropical Granola a week ago and I only have a bag and a half left. It is THAT good. My husband, kids and I eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We love the granola on top of ice cream, yogurt or just on its own. My husband’s favorite granola is the Mango Ginger and mine is the Tropical–both are delicious and take me back to those warm nights on Kauai.
It was super fun to try the other granolas, granola bars and trail mix from Anahola Granola and find that they are all yummy. The trail mix is chock full of delicious seeds, nuts, coconut and more and keeps me feeling full whenever I am out and about. The granola bars are available in mango ginger, original, tropical and chocolate chip and are the perfect size for snacking. My kids love getting them in their lunch bags or snacking on them after school. I love that I can feel safe giving my family the products from Anahola Granola because they are made from all natural ingredients.
I have loved getting to know more about Anahola Granola and I highly recommend trying their products.
