Learn & Play with Kazoops on Netflix

September 2, 2016

I am a Kazoops Blogger Ambassador. This post is part of a sponsored campaign. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.

Kazoops 1

     When I let my children watch something it must be educational and encourage them to think and play. I was so elated to find out that Kazoops a pre-school show that focuses on creative play and helping young children learn critical thinking skills now streaming via U.S. and Canadian Netflix.  The animated series Kazoops is by Australia-based children’s TV producer Cheeky Little Media and follows the adventures of six-year-old Monty and his best friend, Jimmy Jones, the family pet pig.

The series begins with Animal Pals, where Monty wonders why Jimmy Jones is jealous and eventually challenges the notion that “you can only have one best friend.” You see, Monty likes to challenge preconceptions about life by using his imagination. Some preconceptions are that “you have to wear matching socks” or that “all games need rules. In challenging these preconceptions Monty demonstrates the value of creative play and critical thinking.

Monty always lets his audience know that his imagination is working and an adventure is about to begin by saying “Kazoops Jimmy Jones!” After Monty tells Jimmy Jones what is on his mind, he closes his eyes and says the words “just imagine.” These words allow us to transport into Monty’s imagination, where he and Jimmy Jones meet new friends, go to amazing places and explore the preconception that got him wondering in the first place.

Kazoops 2

Pigs don’t dream? Think again. Who says that socks have to match and that you can’t change the way a story ends or that all monsters are scary? As Monty challenges accepted wisdom and shapes the world around him. His imaginative adventures are hugely fun and his discoveries always surprising.

Every fun imaginary adventure is accompanied by a unique song that tells the story and guides us on the journey with Monty and Jimmy Jones. The songs are vibrant, cool and fun with a variety of styles that will make you want to dance, laugh and sing. The words are really important too because they tell us about the new perspectives Monty discovers along the way.

When each song finishes, their imaginary journey comes to an end and Monty and Jimmy Jones return to the real world with fresh ideas to share with the rest of the family.

Kazoops 3

My five year old absolutely loved watching the first episode of Kazoops. He loved the fun characters, bright colors and life-like animations. His favorite character was Jimmy Jones, the pet pig. I loved watching my son giggle and pretend to explore with Monty and Jimmy Jones as he watched the show. As a Mom I love that the show encourages problem solving and real life situations that kids can find themselves in. I also loved the songs that the show featured-they are extremely catchy and educational.

You can watch the trailer for Kazoops below;

I hope you will watch Kazoops with your pre-schooler which is now streaming on U.S./Canada Netflix.
