It’s the age old question… Is it safe to sleep with your baby in bed with you? Many of the experts say no way jose, but there is also the opposition that believes co-sleeping is best. It’s so hard to know what to do in today’s world with advice going every which way for parenting. I often feel more confused after reading a book or a parenting blog post than I did before I read it. Since these little kiddos have the audacity to come into our lives without an instruction manual, I’ve realized if I just follow my mothering instincts, I can figure out what seems to work best with each baby after trial and error.
I am a breastfeeding Mommy and have attempted several different approaches over the years when it comes to feeding my child in the wee hours of the night. I’ve fallen asleep in my glider chair only to wake up with a seriously sore bum two hours later, which then led to stacked pillows against my headboard where I can sit and feed baby in my bed, again falling asleep sitting up and waking with several sore body parts, to finally bringing my baby and nestling him close while laying down to nurse. This last option seems to be the most comfortable for both myself and the baby, but I can’t get any sleep at all because I am terrified about forgetting he’s there and rolling over him.
The DockATot has fixed this problem for me. There are still those nights when I prefer to sit up and nurse, but occasionally I do like to bring him into bed and create that special bond that can only be achieved while breastfeeding closely together. The hardest part for me is getting back up and taking him to his cold bed to sleep on his own. He always wakes up within 3o mins and I am barley back to sleep by the time he’s wailing and we have to begin the whole process over again. With DockATot, I can feed my sleeping babe and then reach over right next to me in bed and rest him right into a warm bed snuggled close to me. With the walls of the DockATot, my Little Man is safe and sound and I can finally catch some zzz’s knowing that he is tucked away out of rolling range.
The DockATot is a multifunctional dock for your baby that can be used for resting, cuddling, supervised sleep, bonding, tummy time, changing, bed transitioning… the possibilities go on and on. We recently travelled out of town and I was so thrilled at the portability of the DockATot. I was able to bring it with us and use it all over the hotel room to set my Little Man in so I didn’t have to stress about germy couches and duvet covers. He was nestled in safely and germ-free for every stop we took. Since I use the DockATot at home, it was easy for him to find sleep because he didn’t need to get used to a different travel bed.
The DockATot Deluxe is especially great for newborns as it’s design replicates the womb by keeping your baby super snug and secure. It also helps to aid in preventing flat head syndrome! I don’t know about you but I am super paranoid about this. I am always turning my Little Man’s head into alternate positions so he’s never laying in one spot too long. I am so glad I added the DockATot to my newborn routine. It’s been a huge helper in figuring out what works best for us this time around 🙂
