To date, approximately 85 percent of the ingredients on Panera’s bakery-cafe food menu are testing or have rolled out nationally without any artificial additives. The goal? A clean menu by the end of 2016.
I was able to test out a few ‘clean’ items from Panera Bread with my cousin, aunt and children this past weekend for lunch.
We each decided upon different items to try for lots of variety.
I also would have never thought to put pineapple, mandarin oranges, blueberries and strawberries together but they all complemented each other perfectly. This menu option is perfect for Vegans (just order a salad without the chicken).
Lori: My Aunt decided to try out the Soba Noodle Bowl with Chicken. This bowl of deliciousness features chicken (raised without antibiotics), soba buckwheat noodles, fresh spinach, Napa cabbage blend, roasted mushrooms/onion blend with sesame seeds and cilantro in a delicious umami soy-miso broth.
The serving is huge and you would never believe it all totals only 390 calories (leaving you enough room for a cookie for two from the bakery). The softness of the noodles paired with the crunch of the spinach, cabbage and mushrooms lends perfectly to the earthiness of the broth. This is the perfect menu item for the calorie-conscious consumer.
All of the salads were incredibly fresh, delicious and colorful. Click here to see the new Summer 2015 Panera Bread menu.
