I love learning more about artists and what inspires them. Today I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to ask 5erg some questions regarding her artwork.
Where do you live?
I live in Estonia, it’s a little country in North Europe.
Tell me a little bit about what you make.
I love needle felting, it’s taking lamb wool and frizzle it into a doll or any random figure. I picked it up from a local craft forum. I like felting mermaids, because I think I have found a way to make them look different.
When did you decide to start your shop?
About a year ago, in spring 2008.
I wasn’t choosing between venues and wasn’t planning on opening any shops. I just stumbled upon Etsy, looked around a bit and decided to go with the flow:P
Is this your full time work?
No it’s not full time work for me, it is just a way to see if anyone liked what I made.
How did you come up with your shops name?
It is my signature. You may notice it under all my paintings and art cards.
Only I had to use number five instead of the letter S. So it’s 5erg on web profiles, but actually it’s S.ERg.
Where do you find your inspiration?
From green photos. Plus, if you are busy with other stuff, you get all kinds of crafting ideas. So, being busy is kind of inspiring I guess, but you have to write everything down so you could read them later, at slower times when you have time to do crafts.
What’s the best part of your day?
Drinking coffee outside is pretty cool. For some reason, coffee tastes even better out in the sun.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
If work=school, then after that…I am watching TV and crafting. Also, I like taking green photos. I wait for that chance the whole winter and when the summer hits, I could just hold my thumb on the trigger and walk around all day, taking photos of leaves, grass and green houses.
