We have a bazillion toys in our playroom. So many in fact that I’ve considered not buying any more toys for Christmas this year. Even though I totally know I’m lying to myself because I love spoiling my sweet little children with things to make those giddy grins spread from ear to ear. Instead of meaningless additions to the tornado that is our playroom, I choose more carefully. For this reason, I always go to Learning Resources!
Learning Resources has a way of making learning fun so my littles don’t even realize they’re learning while they’re playing! One of my favorite activities is grocery shopping, no joke. This love for shopping has been passed on to my sweet kiddos. They were over the moon to get the The Pretend and Play Calculator Cash Register and Smart Market shopping set to pretend to go shopping and then put all the groceries away in their playroom kitchen. The thrill is real people. I was a little concerned about the paper-ish grocery supplies but they’re totally durable. They are made from super thick cardboard and I know they’ll hold up really well with all the shopping and unpacking my littles will be doing.
The Pretend & Play Cash Register doubles as an actual calculator so they can practice their math skills when collecting money. I loved watching my girls sorting the 1s, 5s, 10s, and 20s in their correct spots in the money drawer, and all coins respectively. The coins especially look very close to real! I have been tricked a few times while reaching down to pick one up when I realize it actually belongs in the cash drawer with the rest of the pretend money.
I really love the sorting games Learning Resources offer; these are awesome for my littler littles. I think they are the best when you’re working with them on numbers, colors, and letters. The Counting Dino-Sorters Math Activity Set is darling and colorful and my three year old had so much fun matching the Dinos to their cute, color coordinated eggs. The Alphabet Acorns Activity Set has been fun for all of my girls. Each acorn has a coordinating animal or object and it’s been so fun for all three ages: 7, 5, & 3.
My 7 year old’s favorite was the Gears! Gears! Gears! Cycle Gears. She loved using the instructions and building and rebuilding different models of the Cycle. The Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set is serious business. This game teaches your little to play while writing code! That’s right friends, this is the world we live in.
Learning Resources has developed a tool kit complete with calendars where your kiddos can earn “learning points” to enter giveaways from free toys! The activities are simple and fun and its a perfect way to spend a few minutes enjoying the sweetness that is your child.
