For years I have had a box of VHS tapes and audio cassettes sitting in the corner of my bedroom. 2017 is the year I finally decided that I needed to preserve my memories for future generations. I started by researching companies that could digitally transfer my tapes and cassettes. However, I wasn’t just going to blindly trust anyone to digitally transfer my memories without knowing they were trustworthy and well respected. After many hours of research I came upon Legacybox. Legacybox is a well respected company that makes preserving your memories easy and simple. They’ve served over 250,000 families and created well over 1 million DVDs and digital files for customers all over the country.
How Legacybox works
- Sort through your recorded memories and decide what to send in. Legacybox can handle any format in your collection such as; VHS tapes, films, photos, audio and more.
- Pick the size LegacyBox you would like; Starter, Family, Closet or Trunk
- Fill your Legacybox (which is sent to you) with your formats and attach your codes to each item you would like digitized. Make sure everything is packed snugly and then place the provided FedEx shipping postage on the outside of your box. Take your box to the nearest USPS or FedEx shipping location.
- In a few weeks time you will receive all of your memories on DVD (and in digital format if you select an optional thumb drive). You will receive all items originally sent in for converting as well.
I am not going to lie, sending my precious memories off to a company (even a well respected one) was nerve-racking. I was thankful to know that each item sent to Legacybox is processed in their secure, climate controlled facility, located in Tennessee. They also utilize the latest in barcoding and tracking technology so they know exactly where your order is, at all times.
After I sent my order in I enjoyed receiving updates every few days via email. I was able to login online and track the status of my order at any time I wished. It took about three weeks to receive my original items back in the mail along with; a thumb drive and two DVDs. Going through each of the audio and video files was such a treat. In the processed files we found an old video from my husband’s church mission that he didn’t know he had.
Sitting with our children while watching and listening to our preserved memories was a special memory in itself. I highly recommend Legacybox for all the memories you’d like to keep safe for future generations.
